Grants
RCORUA has two active grants. They are outlined below. We are grateful to these organizations for supporting OHV use in the Bitterroot Valley.
Montana Fish Wildlife & Parks, Trail Stewardship Program. This project is in the Mud Creek area and includes OHV Trails that loop with existing road systems on the West Fork Ranger District, Bitterroot National Forest.
Current status - 9 sign boards have been placed in the riding area for maps and riding information. These will be completed in August. Trapper Creek Job Corps did an excellent job with the signs in their welding and construction shops! We have also started to clear existing old road segments to meet OHV standards. These roads were already approved in Travel Management. Once current litigation is resolved in the Mud Creek EA, we anticipate completing a parking area (existing location) with room to turn trailers around, and completing connectors for loops. We will continue with trail clearing in 2025. For now, the loops shown on the maps will be what is available and open. NEPA proposed connectors will be shown. Update 10/12/25: A huge shout out and thank you to the Trapper Creek Job Corps Trail Crew for assistance in trail clearing on 10/9/25. It was a pleasure to work with these crew members and nice work completed!

Yamaha Motorsports. This project will involve maintenance on the Warm Springs Ridge Trail 103. The trail is currently used by motorcycles, horses, bicycles and hikers. There has been significant degradation to the trail in some locations. These areas will be brought back to Forest Service trail standards and the trail will be cleared in general. This work will be completed in 2025. Full Moon received the contract and will begin work in August. Please be aware of equipment on the trail. It will take 4-6 weeks to complete the work. Update (10/12/25): Work continues on the trail. The lower end is completed about 6 miles in to Fire Creek. Continue to look out for equipment and people working.
